Design a Fundraiser

UPDATE: Don’t forget to complete the task and hand it in this Friday! Great work by those people who offered constructive feedback to others below.

Design a Fundraiser! To complete our Term 3 topic: ‘Earn, Spend, Save, Repeat’ you are required to design a fundraiser which would encourage others to donate to your charity of choice. Follow the instructions below and answer each question to ensure your fundraiser meets the design brief requirements:

  1. Identify your cause. Choose a charity which is important to you. Why would you like to raise money for this charity? Why should others donate to this charity?
  2. Choose an event. Decide how you would like to raise money for this charity e.g. sell goods (wristbands, toys, food etc.), offer services (car wash, cleaning etc.), trivia or karaoke night, dress up day etc. BE CREATIVE BUT REALISTIC.
  3. Make a budget. Determine how much this fundraiser is going to cost (expenses). What will you need to purchase for your fundraising event? How much is the event going to cost? Draw the following table in your book and list all the items you will need to buy for the fundraiser:
Description of items to be purchased Expenses – how much will this cost?
$
$

TOTAL COST

$
  1. Set a target. Now you know how much money your fundraiser is going to cost, how much money are you aiming to raise for your charity?
  2. Market your event. Create a poster, invitation or something else to promote your event and encourage people to join in.

Leave a comment about your fundraiser. Be sure to use constructive feedback given by others to ensure that your fundraiser meets all the criteria!

Grade 5 Winter Holiday Homework

Hi Grade 5,

This is where you post your comment about the fiction book you are reading. I have posted the homework task below. Be sure to read all the instructions carefully!

HOMEWORK TASK:

As a student in Grade 5, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are reading for at least 2 hours each week. It is important that you continue to read as often as you can over the holidays.

Your homework task is to comment below to tell us about a FICTION book you are reading.

Your comment must be set out in the following way:

  • Greeting e.g. Hi Grade 5.
  • Tell us the title of the book you’ve been reading and the name of the author.
  • Tell us who the main characters are (name, appearance, personality etc.)
  • Explain to us the plot of the story (what, where, when, why) BUT DON’T GIVE THE ENDING AWAY! Someone who sees your comment might want to then read the book 🙂
  • Tell us about a part in the book which is similar to something that has happened to you and why. It might be an event, a feeling or a conversation that has happened in your life.
  • Review the book: how many stars do you give it out of 5? What did you like about it? What didn’t you like?
  • Any other information you would like to add (has it been made into a movie?)
  • Sign off e.g. From Miss D

Good luck everybody!
